Professional Experience:

2000 - Present                        Chief Information Officer and Director, Computer Services Division, University of South Carolina - Aiken           

·         Principal campus advocate for information technology and advisor to the Chancellor.

·         Responsible for all computer operations, telecommunications, distance education equipment and audio visual operations (1100 computers, 18 servers, video studio, 900 telephones,  1GB fiber backbone).

·         Responsible for developing and implementing the IT plan for the university.

 

1970 - 2000 United States Army Signal Corps
Colonel

  • 30 years experience as a management and technical specialist in communication and computer operations.
  • 22 years experience in computer operations on mainframe, mini-computer and personal computer platforms to include LAN and WAN engineering and operations.
  • Commanded a 700 person signal battalion.
  • Managed all system software for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY.

1996 - Present Fort Gordon, Georgia
Director, U.S. Army Computer Science School

  • Responsible for formal computer training for all U.S. Army computer systems specialists.
  • Annually trained over 3000 students in all facets of computer operations in both Windows and Unix environments
  • Managed staff and faculty of 190 military and civilian personnel
  • Directed all budget, personnel and curriculum decisions.
  • Directly managed network of over 900 computers in addition to engineering and procurement authority for another 1700 networked computers.

1992 - 1996 United States Central Command, MacDill AFB, Florida
Chief, Command Information Systems Support Division

  • Executed daily computer and communication operations for a 1100 person corporate headquarters, including supervision of 96 computer and communication specialists and over 1000 personal computers and servers.
  • Responsible for planning, engineering and executing extension of this network (to include communications) to multiple worldwide locations.
  • Programmed and managed all computer hardware and software procurements as well as software development.

1989 - 1992 North American Treaty Organization (NATO), Brussels, Belgium
Deputy Program Manager

  • Developed contract proposals for a multi-million dollar software development program.
  • Evaluated bidder proposals to determine adequacy of technical details
  • Prepared and presented technical software and hardware proposals to technical experts of 16 nations.
